About Me

My photo
I am a mom, a wife, and a teacher-librarian. I have four boys at home: Main Man (44), #1 (14), #2 (11), and #3 (7). Although they keep me very busy, I also look after a library for an elementary student population of 500 (give or take). I love my family; I love my job.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful...

... for a working furnace.

... for the right to vote.

... that Red Convertible Guy didn't get elected.

... for the ladies who work at #3's daycare and the TLC they provide every day.

... for the sounds of happy children at a birthday party.
children + happy + celebration = affirmation of life

... for the ability to comfort a frightened child.

... for people like my sister-in-law who put a lot of thought into the gifts they give.

... for the excitement of Halloween.

... for teaching in the same school for 17 years, and for the relationships I've been able to build because of the stability.

... for the freedom that working in the library gives me to team-teach with others.

... for payday.

We all have much to be thankful for when we stop to think about it, don't we? :)

That we do, Pissy. That we do.

You should post it, Happy. I'd love to read it!

Hmmmmmm, Hippo.

Yes, Susan, this week did go quickly, didn't it?

Great things to be thankful for. I keep on meaning to do this on my blog and then space it out again. *sigh* Ah well. There is always next week!

That is awesome that you can vote. I can't vote here, since I am still a Canadian Citizen and will remain so until my last breath. I refuse to give that up, just because I can't live there anymore. *sniff* hopefully I will make it home again one day!

Lowa - I would love to read your Thankful Thursday list. I'm sure it would be a lot like mine.

It would hurt if I couldn't vote, but it would hurt more if I had to give up my Canadian citizenship, so I hear what you're saying.

Does your Canadian citizenship affect your kids' citizenship at all?

I think they can become dual citizens, but it is not automatic. They were all born here, and Brain is desperate to become dual. he claims he will move to Sask as soon as he is 18. He even plans to possibly change his last name to my maiden name! LOL He ADORES my family and has a very close bond, but isn't especially close to (sad as it is) Stud's and certainly is not fond of South Carolina. I need to look into it. He also has himself convinced Bush will re-instate the draft and he is terrified of that and wants to run to Canada for that reason also. He despises Bush, but we won't get into that here:)

Lowa - I remember your writing that about Brain one time before. Wouldn't it be cool if he came up here for university and met one of our boys on campus? Hah!

It would be awesome!

Which has a better Creative Writing program, U of S or U of R?? Do you know?? He is leaning toward becoming a writer, like my brother. All my brothers and my Dad went to the U of S, although my oldest also attended the U of R for a time when he was still married and they lived on McNiven.

Have you checked if my OTHER brother's book is in the library yet?? Yeah, like you have all the time in the world, eh?? LOL I can't get it yet, hard to get down here. I know he will send us a signed copy, but I am DYING to read it! He is still touring and out East somewhere I think, so is a tad busy. I am just so anxious to read it.

In case you forgot, it is called "All This Town Remembers" and his name is Sean Johnston. Man, amazing how habit driven people are! I almost typed in his first book's title! LOL

Hi there, Lowa - I just checked on your brother's book. It's on order at our public library, and there are already 2 people who have requested it (3 if you count me). Whoa, eh?

Wow, that is so cool! Whoa is right:) I will have to let him know. I need to e-mail him and ask him where my copy is. Although, I would like to purchase a copy and help the many eeek out a living! LOL Just wish I could! It is SO DANG ANNOYING being in this foreign country!!

Come back from the Dark Side, Lowa! ;-)

Thanks for including me, Hippo. Maybe I could do a voice for you sometime. On second thought, I'm not sure Mentok would help me with it. He kinda likes it when I'm silent.
