About Me

My photo
I am a mom, a wife, and a teacher-librarian. I have four boys at home: Main Man (44), #1 (14), #2 (11), and #3 (7). Although they keep me very busy, I also look after a library for an elementary student population of 500 (give or take). I love my family; I love my job.

Overheard at Chess Club

Not sure of the background of this conversation. Wish I knew.

Two fifth graders, as they contemplated the vagaries of life and planned their next move:

"There's nothing worse than a mad mom."

"Oh yes there is!"

"Oh, right - a mad dad."

A genius conversation to a genius game? :-)

Hippo - That's one very mad dad!

Susan - I know. They hold chess club in my library after school on Wednesdays. As I catch up on work, I often hear pearls of wisdom.

A mad mom is way worse than a mad dad.

Katy - Wisdom from the innocents... :-)

Mist - Actually, in our house, two out of three of our boys say that a mad dad is worse. Guess I'm losing my touch.

I told Clown this and as he trotted away from me he called over his shoulder "That's not true! They are tied!" then ran squealing up the stairs:)

You're doing better than I am then, Lowa. I really do have to work on my "meanness" a bit more, I guess. ;-)
